Kaisercraft Time Machine - Happy 100th Birthday Book

Alicia McNamara

I was asked to make a special 100th Birthday card for a close family friend.  I have only made two other 100 Birthday cards before...its a bit special really and quite an honour!  This 100th Birthday Card turned into a book as the person requesting it wanted photos and messages from everyone in the family.

I altered a little Close to my Heart Book that I had with the Kaisercraft Time Machine Collection.  Time Machine was perfect for this project because of the masculine colours and feel to the papers and the little quotes all tied in well with the celebration of 100 years of life.

I used Kaisercraft Alpha Chipboard  for the sentiment on the front of the book and inked them with Bark Ink.
This was the first page as you open the book.

Alicia McNamara

After taking the photos and sending the book away I thought about sharing this project on my blog.  However I wanted the messages and names of the people in the book to remain private.  So I edited the photos afterwards to white out the text.

Alicia McNamara

Each page inside consisted of a photo and a matching birthday message from each section of the family.

The papers and collectables did all the work on this project.

I used a Copic marker to change the white spiral binding to a more rustic look and Kaisercraft "Vintage" ink to add some distressing to the edges of the pages.

Alicia McNamara
The last pages I added some quotes, collectables and stickers.

I was happy with how it turned out and all the family loved it : )

Kaisercraft Time Machine - Specialty Paper Layout

By Alicia McNamara

Over at the Kaisercraft Blog today the Design Team have been asked to make a Layout using one or both of the specialty papers that go with the Time Machine Collection.

The two papers are:

PS425 - Time Machine Time Acetate Specialty

PS426 - Time Machine Hour Gloss Specialty

You should see the AMAZING way the ladies have used these two papers to make beautiful layouts.

I did a bit of an experimental layout...a clean and simple one.
I am a big fan of the clean and simple look and white space.  I really wanted the photo to be the star of this page.

I used this gorgeous photo taken by my friend Kelly.  (She is an amazing photographer.)  I thought I would let her photo and the specialty paper do the work here.  I simply added a quote using the Sticker Sheet and a couple of clock stickers.  The specialty paper actually reminded me a bit of a sandy beach.  I like the colour combination of the white, the cream and the warm brown/black.

I'd be very much interested in your thoughts on this layout...Do you think this is too simple???

The Kaisercraft products I used are:

CD101 12×12 Weave – Coconut| PS426 - Time Machine Hour Gloss Specialty | SS292 - Sticker Sheet

I made them using pages from an old book and drawing and painting little designs on each card.  A bit of machine stitching, some hessian, and a little gold sparkle adds to their eclectic vibe.

The Meaning of Christmas - Kaisercraft Holy Night

Kaisercraft Layout by Alicia McNamara

The post over at the Kaisercraft Blog today is all about the Meaning of Christmas.
My fondest memories of Christmas are from when I was a child.  Once you get older Christmas can become more about logistics, finances and preparation.  For me Christmas is meant for the children; the excitement, the joy, the anticipation.  It is a holiday the kids love the best...to see Christmas through the eyes of child is the most magical way.  The adults that enjoy Christmas the most don't let the details worry them.  They breathe in the excitement, have fun and don't sweat the small stuff.  Spending time with family and in gratitude is most important for me, and trying to see Christmas from a kid's perspective is the way to enjoy it the most : )

This photo is of my two beautiful nieces opening a present on Christmas day last year.  I love the captivated looks of anticipation on their faces.  I love these two beautiful girls very much and am grateful I get to see them at Christmas time and share these moments with them : )

Kaisercraft August Collections

Alicia McNamara - Kaisercraft Design Team

 Hello and happy Monday!

I am over at the Kaisercraft Blog sharing these special creations today.  I have made two sets of Christmas cards, an off-the-page Christmas Nativity Scene and a non-Christmas layout using each of the three collections for August; "A Touch of Gold", "Holy Night" and "Time Machine".    Kaisercraft have provided a great variety in their collections this month, with something to suit everyone.

Firstly, "A Touch of Gold".  This celebratory collection features shiny gold, sparkles, glitz and glamour! Today I am sharing some Christmas cards I have made.  Very un-traditional, but they certainly make a statement and the gold really gives them that wow factor!  They would be a standout amongst Christmas cards received and on display on the mantlepiece.
The inspiration for these cards came from the sentiments I cut from this 12x12 Paper PS423 Christmas Words and then each sentiment became the focus point.

I layered the focus sentiment with beautiful foiled papers.

I tied organza bows and sprinkled on some Epoxy stars.

The papers do all the work for you in this collection.  I focused on clean lines and simple designs.  I do love the shiny gold.

The Kaisercraft products used are:
CD102 12x12 Weave - Licorice | PS421 Specialty Foil - Pin Stripe | PS420 Specialty Die Cut and Foil - Doily | PP976 Paper Pad | P1899 Glitz | PS423 Specialty Foil - Christmas Words | CT834 Collectables | BRB605 Organza Ribbon Neutrals | ST911 Epoxy Stickers - Monochrome |

Secondly, I am sharing some more Christmas creations, this time they have a much more traditional feel.  The Holy Night Collection is filled with beautiful images of the Nativity Scene, Angels, stars and stained glass windows.  As I was working with these papers feelings of peace and calmness came over me...the images spoke to my soul.

Alicia McNamara - Kaisercraft Design Team

The focus image for this card came from P1914 Holy Night - Blessing 12x12 Paper.  I simply layered the same image three times by cutting out different sections and used three-dimensional tape to pop up the layers.  The Card Panels Kaisercraft makes are a perfect starting point for making cards.

For my Off The Page Project I assembled and decorated FL572 Wooden Flourish Scenes - Nativity Scene.
This was such a fun project to paint and decorate and fits inside three of Kaisercraft's Advent Calenders; SB2370 Advent House, SB2066 Advent Calender and SB2316 Advent Block.  Or it can simply be used as a decoration on its own.  This would be a great activity for the kids to make leading up to Christmas.  It is quite simple to put together and can be decorated as simply or as ornately as desired.

Finally I made a folded card using DD318 Card Creations - Snowflake Card Flip.

DD318

However instead of using the snowflake I used a card panel from P1914 Holy Night - Blessing 12x12 Paper.

The die comes with all the instructions on how to make this Flip Card, which is very easy to make and gives a nice alternative to the regular flat card base.

Finally, I am sharing my "non-Christmas" Layout using the "Time Machine" Collection.  This collection has a colour palette of teal, brown. black and ivory and is filled with gears, cogs and clocks.  It is a great Masculine range, perfect for Father's Day cards, Male Birthday cards and Male layouts.  I chose to make a Layout with a recent photo of our little boy.  I kept the sketch simple and decorated with stamps, stickers and collectables.  Everything coordinates so beautifully in this collection.  It is easy to play with and put together a project.

Alicia McNamara - Kaisercraft Design Team

There are lots of great quotes in "Time Machine", but this one; "Always find time for the things that make you happy to feel alive" is one of my favourites and a little piece of wisdom for all of us.  I had a lovely time stamping on this layout and then layering the stickers and collectables over the top of the stamped images.

The Kaisercraft products I used are:
CD101 12×12 Weave – Coconut | P1922 Coggler | P1925 Gears | SS292 Sticker Sheet | CS236 Clear Stamps | IP724 - Bark |
Thats all from me today! I hope you enjoyed these little projects and that it inspires you to find time for a bit of crafting, if that is what makes you happy : )

I'm interested to hear what your favourite August collection is?
Have a lovely week,
