Art Journalling, Card, Food and Photos

Hi Blogging Friends,

How was your week?  Tuesday has come around quickly again!
Today Nicholas and I went to Pilates and then shopping.  I stopped in for a hot chocolate and a cup cake while he was asleep in the pram.  This is what they served me...doesnt it look pretty! Raspberry and white chocolate mud cake I think.  It was very sweet and yummy. I ate everything, including the cream, and I dont normally like cream, but I think it was fresh cream mixed with a bit of icing sugar which is my favourite way to eat cream.

I have one card to share.  I made this for my cousin for her 30th birthday.  It is this weekend.  I used Kaisercraft papers and die cuts.  It just all sort of came together.  It was fun and easy to make.  I kept it very simple.

I painted this with watercolour paint and doodled over the top for my art journal.  I tried to do fancy handwriting.  I am finding the art journalling very freeing.  I would like to do a lot more, but my day is very full of lots of things and I have been going to bed very early.  So I havent had a lot of time to do it.  I am working on a special page which will be my Mad for Markers come back piece.  I have been doing a little bit each day.  I am back on with the Mad for Markers team as of September so I am trying to get myself organised for that.

Little Nicholas got his first tooth yesterday.  It broke through the bottom of his gum.  We have been trying all sorts of things for him to chew on.  He has two "gummy" toothbrushes, and this is one of them...so there is dribble going everywhere...as he chews and sucks and gets very frustrated with the whole thing!  Poor little baby, he was in a lot of pain yesterday...almost broke my heart.  We have both been very tired today as a result.

Thanks for reading my blog and your lovely comments.
Dont forget to enter my candy in the side bar if you havent already.
Have a lovely week,
Alicia xx

Art Journalling, Photos and a Card

Hello Blogging Friends,

It is a beautiful day here today.  We have been to Pilates, washed the car, had lunch and I think it is just too nice to stay inside...so after blogging we are off for a walk with the puppies.  I must have got a good night's sleep!! Seem to be full of energy!

This week I have been doing more research on Art Journalling.  I went and bought some supplies and have completed my very first page.  I painted it with water colours onto water colour paper, then used a black texta and a white gel pen.  It was really fun...freeing...easy.  I really put no planning or thought into this...just had fun with it.  There is so much inspiration out there on the internet.  I have heaps of cool tutorials saved on Pinterest.

I took these photos yesterday when I went for a walk.  This is my favourite spot to look back over the beach.  And the photo below is of some daisies growing.

Alas..no Copic colouring to share this week...but I am determined to get into it...just need some more inspiration I think!  I do have a card to share that I made...a Christmas one...dont know why I am making Christmas cards at the moment...I added lots of glitter as you can see...(sorry the photo seems a bit blurry).

Lastly Nicholas...(and Ben today)! We have been meeting Ben for Lunch on a Thursday which has been fun.  This is them last week at this cafe in Newcastle we go to.  I have bought Nicholas a little hat because he hates the sun in his eyes.  Look at his little tummy!! He is a chubby little baby.  I know you know I love him so much!

Well thats all from me till next week.
Hope your life is happy,

Love Alicia xx

Colouring, Cards and Nicholas

Hi Blogging Friends,

Well only just making my blogging post today.  Nicholas and I went to Pilates this morning and had a rest this afternoon.  I have been feeling a bit out of sorts with another milk blockage.  But I think I am almost over it now.  Nicholas is a hungry boy and the milk he requires is a lot.  We have started him on a bit of Farex this week...he has only had about 1/2 a teaspoon in total the last two days...but we have got the high chair out of the shed and he enjoys sitting in that.  Hopefully he will gradually get the hang of it.

The picture I coloured above is the same one as last week, drawn by the talented Sara.  I had another go at colouring this girl...she needs a name...might have to call her Sara! It took me all week to colour her. I only finished today...not at all speedy at the moment.  I wanted to make her a red head.  My Mum and sister both have red hair...and my Mum loves wearing blue so I put her in blue.  Unfortunately I stuffed up her neck.  Nicholas was crying and I was trying to finish her and I grabbed the wrong colour and her neck went way too brown.  I was trying to give her pale skin.  Ben says not to worry...either she is wearing make-up that is a bit too pale for her or she has fake tan on her neck!! So just try not to look at the neck!!  I wanted to give her freckles, but was afraid of stuffing that up too, so I just left her as she is.

I have been making cards, but am working at submitting more for publication, so I really cant show you those.  These two I made awhile ago, but have never blogged them.  I made them using the LOTV die cuts.  They are nice and cheery.

My organisation is going well.  I am achieving most of my daily jobs and generally feeling like I am a bit more on track.  I am supposed to be blogging back with Mad for Markers next month...and am a little nervous about getting my colouring done...I am trying to get my pictures done in advance, but havent had much success so far.  I have picked my image...but thats about it.

I am still researching Art Journals...I have over 100 examples and tutorials pinned to pinterest now.  (Thanks to Bettina...she has been doing some serious art journal research and I have been re-pinning all her pins.) I am so inspired by it.  I am thinking I wont go digital now, I think I would prefer to do it "in real life".  I just have to work out how to fit it into my week...

Finally, here is the gorgeous Nicholas.  I took this photo this morning.  He has rolled over a few weeks ago, but then forgot how to do it.  He was having a good go at trying to roll again this morning, but didnt quite get there.  He is a beautiful boy.  We love him so much...

Well thats about it for me now...I hope you are having a wonderful week.
Thanks for your comments and friendship, and for taking the time to read my blog.

Colouring, Organisation, Art Journals and Photos

Hi Blogging Friends,

Colouring

It is Tuesday again and that is my blogging day.  So here I am...sharing a bit of my week with you.  Since last week I have been doing a lot of research on Pinterest.  I found this amazing colouring tutorial by Sara.  You really need to check it out.  I followed her tutorial to colour this image.  Sara drew the picture of the girl and is giving her away as a free digi you can save to practice the hair, just like she has coloured it.  I used the colours she recommends.  I was very happy with how she turned out.  My first bit of colouring in over three months.  It took me a little while to get back into it...but once I got the hang of those flicks again, there was no stopping me!  I hope to colour some more of these girls soon!

Organisation

Thanks to Pinterest I have been inspired to "get organised" and "clean out clutter".  I am working on our bedroom cupboard at the moment.  I went to Big W and bought some plastic tubs, got out my label maker and started sorting.  It does look a lot better, but I feel there is still a way to go yet.  I havent shared my own pictures because it looks nothing as glamorous as some of the pictures on Pinterest.  Very basic, but hopefully we can better utilise the small spaces we have in our house and store our things better.

Art Journals

Wow...there is some amazing inspiration for art journals out there...so much so I am going to have to get into it!  I think I am going digital though...as I dont have the equipment or the space to get messy with paints and gesso and stencils etc.  I have come across this site: Art Journal Caravan.  Have you seen it? As soon as I get a free minute I am going to begin.  Stay tuned for hopefully some pages...maybe next week!

Nicholas

Lastly, here are a couple of pics of Nicholas...the sunshine of our lives...getting out and about.  I put his feet in the sand at the beach for the first time yesterday.  He seemed to like it.

I hope you are all well and happy, until next week,
Alicia

P.S Don't forget to enter my candy!
