A Weekend Update

Hi Blogging Beauties,

Just thought I would share some of my weekend antics...
Our friend Ben W (shown below with his girlfriend Sonja) won a weekend at the Gold Coast and asked us if we wanted to come along.  Of course we said yes we would love to!  I have a few photos to share...

The first photo is Ben and I when we first arrived at the unit in Surfer's Paradise on Friday and I fell in love with the fabulous view...and below is the four of us before we went out Saturday night for dinner.

Saturday night we went to Alfrescos...a restaurant we used to visit frequently when we lived there.  Some of my old school colleagues (and best friends) came out.  Below is a photo of fellow card-makers who sell their cards at Aussie Cards for Sale...
Amanda, Lucinda and Danielle.

Here we all are having a yummy Italian dinner.  It was so lovely to catch up with these beautiful friends...unfortunately we didnt get to see all of our friends as we were only there for two nights, but there is always next time, right?

I of course had to go and spend a few solid shopping hours at Harbour Town (my fave shopping centre in the whole world).  I did quite a bit of damage in about three hours and snapped up some incredible bargains.  These are were the shoes I bought from Nine West...I just had to share a photo of them with you!

It took us ten hours to drive home on Sunday...we were exhausted after a very late night on Saturday night and eventually arrived home at 10pm.  On the way to the Gold Coast we sensibly halved the trip and stayed at the Novatel.  This was where we had breakfast Friday morning...

And this was a pretty flower Ben took a picture of at the Novatel by the pool.

It was a fabulous weekend and I enjoyed every moment (except the drive home).
We swam in the beach both mornings and then went to the Surf Club for breakfast.
We ate out both nights.  We had prawns off the trawler on sandwiches for lunch, we played putt-putt golf...it really couldn't have been better!  But, it is nice to be home and back in the country, hanging out with all our pets.

I hope you had a lovely weekend.
Thanks for visiting,

Southern Girls DT ~ Brads, Gems or Dew drops

Good Morning Blogging Beauties,

Today is the beginning of a new challenge at Southern Girls!
This fortnight we are asking to see Brads, Gems or dewdrops on your creation - how easy is that!  I made a special card for my Aunt to give to her son for his 30th Birthday.  She requested something "arty".  This isnt my usual style for card-making but I had lots of fun creating this card and distressing everything. I hate brads...can never get them in the right place without creasing the paper and having the little metal ends hidden, so I used little gems and coloured them in with my Sepia Copic marker to make them look kind of like brads.

So now onto our very kind and awesome sponsors..........
New Zealand/Australia Sponsor

International Sponsor
I thought I might play along with these challenges:

Anything Goes - Distressing
Scrap Creations - Birthday cards
Craft Your Passions - Male Card or Project
Kaboodle Doodles - Break Tradition

Hope you have a lovely day today : )

Mad For Markers ~ DT ~ Crazy Hair Combo

Good Morning Blogging Beauties,

I have a Mad for Markers DT card to share today.
There is only four days left to enter a card in our Crazy hair Combo challenge.
This time I went for the colours Red, Pink and Black.
I did another tri-fold card because I really enjoyed making the last one I did.  They are easy to put together.  Not much thinking involved in where to put everything.
I really like these papers.  They are from the Kaisercraft Lovenote Collection.

I coloured with the following Copic markers:

Skin: E21, E00, R20
Pinks/Reds: RV06, RV29, R20
Greys: C-1, C-3, C-5, C-7
Black 100

I coloured some chipboard hearts in with RV06 then covered them with Crystal Effects and dry embossing glitter that stuck to the Crystal Effects.

I would like to enter some challenges:

Simon Says Stamp - And show some Stripes
Crafts and Me - Time to Spread your Wings
Paper Romance - Buttons, Ribbons and Lace
Stamp Challenges - Something Funky
One Stop Craft Challenge - Birthday Card

My Nan is sick in hospital so I took my Granddad up to see her yesterday and will do so again today.  We are hoping she gets out of Acute Care soon and into a general ward.  She is doing okay, it is to do with her heart.  It gives her trouble from time to time.

Hope you have a lovely day...I have lots to do, so I better get started!

Craft Your Days Away ~ GDT Card

Hi Blogging Beauties,

I applied to be a Guest Designer at Craft Your Days Away and they said "yes"! So here is the card I made.

I followed their sketch.  It is important to have the elements of the sketch especially the ribbon in the corner and then you can embellish on top of that. I followed it very closely.

I had this Kenny K image printed out and ready to go so I coloured her in using Copics.
Purples: V17, V12, V06
Greys: C-1, C-3, C-5, C-7
Black 100
Skin: E21, E00, R20

I added Bella chipboard and decorated the inside as well.
I sold this card at the markets on Sunday.

I am behind on comments, but hope to catch up today or tomorrow.  Lots has been going on lately.  Including me quitting my casual teaching job on Friday...so crafting has taken a little back seat this weekend as I have come to terms with the whole thing.  Over the next few days though I will definitely be catching up on blogging and commenting.

I would like to enter:
Creative Craft Challenge - Cards for a Teen
Cute Card Thursday - Shiny, Happy Cards
Dutch Dare Card Challenges - Sparkle/Glitter/Bling
Totally Papercrafts - Do it with Digis

Thanks for popping over to see my card.
Have a lovely day,

Paper Play DT ~ Add Shine

Hi Blogging Beauties,
Its a Thursday Paper Play day - yay!! I do love these Thursdays.
This week our challenge is to add shine.
This can be shiny paper, stickles or kindy glitz, crystal effects etc.
We are sponsored by "Just some Lines" and we were given these lovely images to work with.
I happen to love this girl.  I think she is adorable.

Now I have to be honest and say I really struggled getting my photos to show the shine on my card.  So I waited until it was night and took a night-time shot as well that shows up the shine a little better on her dress.  But really you will just have to trust me that it is there...I did use crystal effects and I hate using it because it always gets clogged up in the bottle and it is hard to get it to stay where you want it on the image.  (The card has curled up a bit from the Kindy-glitz and has since been squashed flat by a large box.)

I would like to enter a few challenges:

OSAAT - Make it Pretty
Paper Sundaes - Flowers, lace, distressing and pink

Mad for Markers DT ~ Crazy Hair Combo

Hi Blogging Beauties,

I have a new card for the Crazy Hair Challenge at Mad for Markers.  This has to be my most favourite M4M Challenge yet!  I have gone with another Kenny K image (hope you arent sick of me colouring them yet!) and I chose the colours brown and green to base my card and image on.

I made a Tri-Shutter card.  To do this take a 6x12 inch piece of card stock.  Score it at 2, 4, 8 and 10 inches.  Then cut between the 2 and 10 inch score lines at 2 inches and 4 inches.

I used the following Copics to colour my image:
Greens: G14, YG06, YG23, YG11
Browns: E47, E37, E35, E31
Reds: R59, R27, RV34
Greys: C-1, C-3, C-5
Skin: E21, E00, R20

Why not join in the fun with our Crazy Hair Challenge at Mad for Markers!
Its a great excuse to colour hair in some crazy ways!

Before I go I would like to enter two challenges:

Lollipop Crafts - Use your Favourite Colouring Medium (Copics)
Our Creative Corner - Cut it Out

I am off to try and catch up on everything else I had planned for today!
Thanks for popping over,

Baby Shower Card

  Hi Blogging Beauties,

Life has been busy this week.
I worked Tuesday on Grade 6, Wednesday on Grade 3 and Thursday and Friday on Grade 5.
Friday night my sister-in-law moved into their newly bought house and we went to visit and lend a hand (don't know if we were much help really).  Then Saturday I took some cards to the markets.
Unfortunately the markets were a little quiet, but I still managed to sell 12 cards so it wasn't a wasted day.  It was the first time I went to these particular markets, so it does take awhile for people to know what you are selling and think of you when they need a card.

This is the third Baby Shower card I have made this month.  There seems to be a lot of babies being born this year.  The request was bright colours, animals and polka-dots.  I think I managed to tick all of those boxes.

I used Kaisercraft Fun Fair papers. I cut all the animals out of the paper and arranged them onto the card.

I decorated the inside of the card to match.

I would like to enter two challenges:

Stamping Vacation - No Flowers

Before I go, I thought I would share a picture of this little frog.
Our bathroom keeps attracting lots of frogs.  We arent sure where they get in.  But the other night this little green tree frog wanted to take a shower with me.  I wasn't too keen, so Ben took him outside.  I just love this photo though...his lovely green skin and his cool eyes.

Have a great Sunday and tanks for stopping by,

Southern Girls DT ~ Colour Challenge Blue and Chocolate

Goodmorning Blogging Beauties,

It is a Southern Girls Challenge day today!
This fortnight we have a colour inspiration and it is Blue and Chocolate.

As always you are playing for some great prizes!!!
For our International winner we are sponsored by Meljens Digi Images.
For our NZ/Australian winner we are sponsored by Scrapbox and Joanna Sheen.

I used a SU rubber stamp as my main image on this card and all SU card stock in colours Chocolate Chip, Brocade Blue and Creamy Caramel.  It has been awhile since I have used these colours together.  Under the image I layered lots of Prima flowers and glued them all in place.  I added some ribbons, a button and a punched out butterfly.  Then added some Kindy Glitz which is still wet in the photo.  This card is for an ex-student of mine who is also a very dear friend.

I am off to a Year five class today and tomorrow and then the markets on Saturday.  This is shaping up to be a very busy week indeed!  Have a great day and thanks for stopping by.

Mad For Markers - DT - Crazy Hair

Hi Blogging Beauties,

I got called in to work today (and probably for the rest of the week) so after about 10 weeks of holidays it is a bit of a shock to the system! I wasn't expecting any work until next week...otherwise I would have been smart enough to get ahead with some of my DT work...nevermind...my house is sparkling at least!

Here is my DT card for Mad for Markers.  The current challenge is Crazy Hair.  I think this is an awesome challenge - so much fun to colour!!  I chose blue and green to play with today and coloured in this Kenny K image.  I have seen her around and loved her...but this is my first go at colouring her in.

I kept the card very plain and simple...you can decide for yourself if you like it...or is it too simple?? Ben is a big fan of clean and simple so he loves it...me on the other hand...I wonder if it is missing something??  Oh well, not enough time to play and see.  I have to appologise for the not-so-good night-time photos...but there has been a lot going on today and this is as good as I can manage tonight.

She was coloured with:
Skin: E21, E00, R20
Blues: B05. BG05. BG01. BG10
White: C-1
Greens: YG06, YG41, BG23, G02
Lips: R59, R27, R85

I added heaps of glitter...wanted her to be shiny and glittery, plus it helped distinguish the colours..hair from dress etc.  I love her pretty eyes!

Well I'm off to bed...its extremely late and I probably have a big day ahead of me tomorrow.
Will catch up on comments hopefully tomorrow.
Thanks for dropping in to see me and take care.

Wedding/Engagement/Love Cards

Hi Blogging Beauties,

Happy Sunday to you!
I have been making some wedding and engagement and love cards over the last couple of days. My sister and I needed some of these as we have a few engagement/weddings happening at the moment.

Some of these cards are also for sale at Aussie Cards for Sale in the Wedding/Engagement section. There is such a wide variety of cards on this site by 18 different designers. It is worth having a look, even for some inspiration!

Here are the cards:

I used Kaisercraft After Five Collection papers and Bella chipboard.
I am now officially in love with chipboard...cant seem to get enough of it at the moment.

I thought I would enter two challenges:

Allsorts - Love, love, love

I have lots to do today so I better keep going.
Thanks for popping over.
