Kaisercraft "Peek-a-Boo" Layout with Video Tutorial

Kaisercraft Peek-a-Boo Layout and Video Tutorial by Alicia McNamara

On the 1st of September 2016 we welcomed a second beautiful boy into our family  - Billy Blake McNamara.  So you can understand how excited I was when I found out that Kaisercraft was releasing a new set of baby papers called the Peek-a-Boo Collection.  Today I am sharing a Layout with Process Video using the blue baby papers from "Peek-a-Boo".  It was nice to have the opportunity to scrap this recent photo of Baby Billy.
Here is the video of how I made the Layout:

This Layout features the gorgeous new Decorative Die released this month called Carousel.  It is just beautiful and will be perfect for your Baby cards, Baby layouts and other Baby projects.

I have been loving using the Kaisercolour Gel Pens with the Kaisercraft Templates.  It gives a very accurate pattern, much neater and clearer than paint, Kaiser Mists or texture paste.  Plus there is no mess to clean up!!

I have the original 24 pack of Gel Pens, but now you can also purchase 12 packs, a 48 pack and each colour can also be purchased singularly.  Check out the full range of gel pens here and the full range of Kaisercraft templates here.  There are endless possibilities combining these two amazing Kaisercraft products!

Thank you for stopping by today to check out my Layout and watch my video...I hope you a new idea or two...if you decide to give the Gel Pens and Templates a try, be sure to let me know.  I would love to see the results.

Kaisercraft Baby Mobile and a photo of Baby Billy

Kaisercraft Peek-a-Boo Baby Mobile by Alicia McNamara

In my DT Pack this term I received a Baby Mobile which was exciting, as we have been in full-on baby mode here since Billy Blake was born on September 1st.

Kaisercraft Peek-a-Boo Baby Mobile by Alicia McNamara

It was a simple project to create.  The trickiest part was getting the strings to balance evenly so the mobile would hang balanced.

I decorated each piece simply with papers, some cheesecloth material, a white ribbon and a paper bloom.

I decided to go with a mix of pink and blue papers because then the Baby Mobile can be suitable for both baby girls and boys.

This mobile was very tricky to photograph which is why I have so many photos to share.

Our little Baby Billy is growing up.  He is three months old now and a ray of sunshine when he is happy! We can see he is working on sitting up, and it looks like a tooth might be on the way!  Here is a little photo taken one night not so long ago...

Kaisercraft Baby Girl "Peek-a-Boo" Layout

Kaisercraft Peek a Boo Layout by Alicia McNamara

I was so excited when Kaisercraft released a new baby range of papers - Peek-a-Boo.  It is a beautiful, vintage collection.  I made this Layout featuring my friends' little girl...she is just adorable!!

The theme over at the Kaisercraft blog was templates.  I used Petal Pink Ink to stamp through the template to create the background design in the corners of my layout.

Introducing Billy Blake : )

On the 1st of September we welcomed the beautiful Billy Blake into our family : )  He was born at 10:54 pm, weighing 8 pound 2 ounces or 3695 grams.  He was 50 cm in length.  My labour was induced and it took a long time for anything to happen, but once it did begin, everything went smoothly and I was relieved at (and very grateful for) how much easier it was the second time around.

Nicky is a very proud big brother and has been a wonderful help to me assisting with nappy changes, sharing his bath, checking on Billy, choosing him outfits etc etc.

These photos were taken the day after Billy was born, in the hospital.  We are super blessed to have these two gorgeous boys to look after and we really cant believe how lucky we are.  I am currently adjusting to sleep deprivation lol! So far Billy has been a very good baby, but has had a bit of wind pain.  Most of my blog posts have been scheduled for September in preparation for a little less time for blogging.  Behind the scenes I have still been crafting away while Billy sleeps so there is plenty more to come here on my blog.  Thanks for stopping by : )

Exciting Baby News

Hi Blogging Friends,

A personal post today to let you all know that we are expecting a new baby into our family : )
This will be our second little miracle baby...the first one is growing a bit bigger every day and turned four in April!

Our baby will be due late August/early September all things going well and we are really looking forward to meeting him or her and adjusting to the newborn routine.

My pregnancy has been a little more challenging than the first.  I was nauseous for the first 18 weeks (which I was lucky not to have when I was pregnant with Nicky) and my veins are very enlarged and painful in my legs.  I'm putting this down to being a bit older and perhaps getting less rest this time around.  I have found some support leggings which have been life saviours in helping with the veins so really, all in all, I can't complain.  We are very grateful to have this opportunity to bring another little cherub into the world and especially for Nicholas to have a sibling to grow up with.

I'm open to words of advice about second babies if you have any for me! I know a lot of you are Mums and Grandmas who have loads of baby and children experience.  I feel like I'm at the start of a whole new journey that you cant really prepare for.  I'm saying lots of prayers that the birth and the settling into home for the new baby (and the rest of us) might go smoothly : )

Kaisercraft April Inspiration

Kaisercolouring by Alicia McNamara

Hello blogging friends : )
Today I’m sharing some Colouring projects, a sweet Mini Album using Cottage Rose, and a Card and Layout using Sea Breeze.  Its no secret that the Kaisercraft Collections for April are AMAZING!! It must be something to do with what an awesome month of the year April is ; )

Project One: Feather Colouring

I have really been enjoying a little quiet time colouring at night.  I have been trying to use Social Media a little less…I have prioritised all my favourite feeds (like Kaisercraft) so I see them at the top of my feed, because I was finding myself going onto a Social media site for a reason and then getting caught on there half an hour later.  It became kind of a habit for me, where I found myself reaching for my phone too many times during the course of the day.  Now that my feed is prioritised, I don’t need to reach for my phone thinking maybe I’ve missed something,  so I have been reaching for my Kaiser Colour Colouring Books and Gel Pens instead.  I have found this to be particularly relaxing at night after dinner.  The research does promote colouring as therapeutic in reducing anxiety, creating focus and bringing about mindfulness.  I have to say I have found it to be very relaxing and calming and I tend to forget about the world when I get absorbed into a colouring a page.

I do love the colours in this gorgeous picture of a feather…so bright and tropical.

Project Two: TeePee Colouring

Kaisercolouring by Alicia McNamara

I chose earthy tones to colour this Tee Pee from the Kaisercolour Free Spirit Colouring Book.  Isn’t it amazing how the combination of certain colours has such a different impact!

Kaiser Colouring by Alicia McNamaraI made a YouTube video a few months ago where I explain the Kaisercraft Gel Pens and it has been very popular.  I have had a few questions about where you can purchase these pens online in Australia and in the US and you can find this information in the comments below the video on the Youtube site.  If you are wondering, these pens do not leak through to the other side of the page of your Kaisercolour Colouring Book.  The paper in the Kaisercolour books is a lovely thick, high quality paper which enables you to colour both sides of the page without any trace of colour leaking through.

Project Three: Cottage Rose Mini Album

Kaisercraft Cottage Rose Mini Album by Alicia McNamara

Some friends of mine, that I love very dearly, had some gorgeous photos taken of their family when they welcomed their first baby girl into the world.  The photos really are beautiful and the colour scheme of the photos pink, grey and white, goes so perfectly with the Cottage Rose Collection.  I asked for permission to use some of their photos for a few of my crafty projects including this Mini Album.
Kaisercraft Cottage Rose Mini Album by Alicia McNamara
I found a little tutorial for a Mini Album on YouTube by a very talented lady, Anna Kommenda and I thought I might give it a try.  You can watch the Tutorial yourself right here to make your own.  It was actually very easy to make the basics of the album, it was the decorating the pages of the album that took me most of the time to create the project.

When you open the album the pages are in a concertina fold.

From a bird's eye view the top of the concertina fold looks like this:

Aren't those teeny, tiny toes so cute!

When you stretch out the concertina fold you have two sides to decorate.  One side I decorated was this one above.

And this was the reverse side.

Now for a few close-up photos of each individual page in the album...

I personally adore the photo below of this gorgeous little girl wrapped in her grey blanket.

I tried to balance a photo on one side of each page and a sentiment or a word on the other side.

This "Always in my Heart" sentiment is from the Cottage Rose Clear Stamp Set.

Another one of my favourites...this photo is just adorable!!  I love that little white bonnet.

Then it all folds snuggly back into its little album.

Project Four: "Smile" SeaBreeze Card

Kaisercraft Sea Breeze Card by Alicia McNamara
This is a simple little card made using the gorgeous Sea Breeze collection.  This would be suitable for any occasion.  I adore the colour scheme in this collection.  I hope to have more of a play with this over the next few weeks.  I have another Kaisercraft monthly post coming up on the 28th of this month.  I hope to show you a few pictures of my new craft room and some "Sea Breeze" projects so stay tuned for that post as well : )

Project Five: "A Friend is a Gift to Treasure" Layout

Kaisercraft Sea Breeze Layout by Alicia McNamara
This was a layout I made for CHA and it is featured in this month's current Kaisercraft Workshop Magazine.  The photo is from our wedding day which is now fourteen years ago.  I'm the one in the middle of a beautiful bunch of ladies who were my bridesmaids on the day and are all still very precious people in my life.  These ladies are all now married and have children.  I look back at these photos and marvel at what a snapshot in time it is.  I'm really glad I scrapped this photo because its a special one to me.
Full instructions can be found on the Kaisercraft Website here if you would like to recreate this layout.
