Kaisercraft "Just Landed" Travel Layout featuring Journalling

Kaisercraft Just landed Layout by Alicia McNamara

On the Kaisercraft Blog today the team were asked to do a Travel Journal project featuring journalling.  I  made a 12x12 Page that I have added into my Pocket Scrapping Travel Album I made this month.  I created a block-style layout and added the journalling on the lines below my photo.  Then I stamped with the city skyline stamp below the journaling.  I sprayed my chipboard letters Title with Charcoal Kaiser Mist to match the colours in the collection.

I have been listening to lots of podcasts recently about scrapbooking and many scrapbookers place a big emphasis on "the story" that goes with the photo and so journalling is very important to them.  I must admit I am often too lazy to journal or can not seem to find the room on the page to do it, so this was a fun challenge for me.

This collection of papers "Just Landed" by Kaisercraft have certainly made me consider travelling again...but with a baby due in about 10 weeks it certainly isn't the right time for me to be travelling the world lol! I am content with re-living a few travelling memories by scrapbooking them : )

Kaisercraft Boho Dreams - "I'm a Dreamer" Dream Catcher Layout

Kaisercraft Boho Dreams Layout by Alicia McNamara

Over on the Kaisercraft Blog this week it is Dream Catcher's Week.  The DT were asked to make a project featuring a Dream Catcher.  I made this Layout with an old photo of me that Ben took about five years ago when he bought his new camera.  He made me stand in an itchy paddock of long grass and try not to get eaten by mosquitoes lol! The photo suited the Boho Dream papers I thought.  I do love these papers.  They are really fun to work with.

Dreaming of A Holiday

Happy Monday, its a new week and on the Kaisercraft Blog this week we have the theme of Dream Catchers!  Dream Catchers are featured in one of the gorgeous new collections for the month of June, Boho Dreams.  Today I am sharing three projects; some Dream Catcher cards, a Beyond the Page Wall Art and a Pocket Scrapping Travel Album with the Just Landed Collection.  I also have a video of the Travel Album to share...so settle back, make yourself a cup of something nice to drink and enjoy a little Kaisercraft inspiration...

202-1

Project One - Dream Catcher Cards

I made a set of three Dream Catcher Cards using the new Kaisercraft Decorative Die: DD754 Dream Catcher.
DD754
These cards were so much fun to make : )  I followed the same sketch for each of the three cards, just changed up the elements a  little so that each card is unique.

Project Three: How to Make your Own Travel Pocket Style ScrapBook

For My Travel Album I chose to make a Pocket Style Scrapbook featuring the amazing new collection for June; Just Landed.

Just Landed

Step One: Gather Kaisercraft Supplies

I purchased the D-Ring Album to match this collection and Multi Pocket Pages in three different designs.

Step Two: Gather Photos

I had some old photographs from 2007 when we went to Japan for my cousin's wedding.  Because of the large quantity of photos I had from this trip I decided to make my Album in the Pocket-Style of Scrapping.

Step Three: Gather Mementos

I also had a pile of ticket stubs, maps, brochures and coins that I had collected on the trip.  I wanted to incorporate these into my Album so that everything about the trip was together in the one place and could be enjoyed.

Step Four: Slip Photos into Pockets

My next job was to put all the photos into the Pocket Pages in my Album.  I left some spaces in the album for Title cards that I felt needed a little bit of journalling.   If there wasn't enough photos to fill a page a left a space for a filler card.  In this example below I had two spaces at the top of the pocket page.

Step Five: Make Title Cards and Filler Cards

My last job was to make the Title Cards and Filler Cards.  I counted up how many horizontal cards I needed and how many vertical cards I needed.  I made a few generalised cards that could fit in any place in the album.  I also made a few more specific cards that referred directly to certain events in the album.

These are fun little cards to make up, a small 6x4 inch space.  I used a lot of stamps from the Just Landed collection, stickers, collectables and the little wooden embellishments.

This is an example of a typical page in the album.

I used lots of Chipboard Letters to make titles on my Title Cards.  I sprayed the chipboard with Kaiser Mists to match the colours in the collection.

On the last page of the album we had a couple of airplane photos so I used some of the P2103 Sign Posts Paper to create an airplane picture to finish.

It is quite difficult to get the idea of what the album looks like just with photographs so I have made a little video of the album so you can see it a little better.  I also included a few process clips of how I put together a few of the Title Cards.

Kaisercraft Just Landed with Layout and Pocket Scrapping with Travel Flourishes

Kaisercraft Just Landed Layout by Alicia McNamara

Have you seen the new "Just Landed" Collection from Kaisercraft this month?  Its perfect for all your travel snaps!  It has inspired me to dig back through some old photos from 2007 when we went on our first overseas trip to Japan.

I am making an album of these photos and this is the first page in the Album.  Can you see the little wooden embellishments? They go perfectly with this collection.  They are a must-have embellishment.

I went through and put all my photos in the album, but I had some leftovers, that weren't very interesting or didn't fit into the pocket pages.  Some of these photos I cut up into little 3x4s and used on these two pocket pages along with some 3x4 cards from the collection.

These layouts were lots of fun to make.
Stay tuned because I will show you the full album next week : )

Exciting Baby News

Hi Blogging Friends,

A personal post today to let you all know that we are expecting a new baby into our family : )
This will be our second little miracle baby...the first one is growing a bit bigger every day and turned four in April!

Our baby will be due late August/early September all things going well and we are really looking forward to meeting him or her and adjusting to the newborn routine.

My pregnancy has been a little more challenging than the first.  I was nauseous for the first 18 weeks (which I was lucky not to have when I was pregnant with Nicky) and my veins are very enlarged and painful in my legs.  I'm putting this down to being a bit older and perhaps getting less rest this time around.  I have found some support leggings which have been life saviours in helping with the veins so really, all in all, I can't complain.  We are very grateful to have this opportunity to bring another little cherub into the world and especially for Nicholas to have a sibling to grow up with.

I'm open to words of advice about second babies if you have any for me! I know a lot of you are Mums and Grandmas who have loads of baby and children experience.  I feel like I'm at the start of a whole new journey that you cant really prepare for.  I'm saying lots of prayers that the birth and the settling into home for the new baby (and the rest of us) might go smoothly : )

For my contribution to the Challenge I decided to make a Beyond the Page Project.  About a month ago I purchased the Multipurpose Box kit from my local Kaisercraft store at Robina.  I haven't made one of these projects before and I originally thought this would be good to store hand-made cards in under categories like birthday, baby, wedding etc.  I like the idea of having an organised system to store my hand-made cards in as they currently get put into a box in no real organised state.  Then I thought for while about this box and thought it would be great to hold recipe cards to have on hand in the Kitchen.  Then my third and final idea was to use this box as a storage box for my dies.  It really is a very useful and versatile box that could be used to store almost anything!

This was a photo of my old method of storing dies.  (Its pretty scary.)  You can see why I have been looking for a new way to organise my Kaisercraft Dies. My collection has grown steadily in the last year and I haven't been sure exactly how to manage it.  All I knew was that it was getting very hard to find the die I was looking for and that something needed to be done.

Kaisercraft Beyond the page Die Storage Box by Alicia McNamara

The Kaisercraft Multipurpose Box has come to the rescue! Its the perfect size for storing the dies attached to the magnets provided in the Kaisercraft packaging and you can easily flip through them to find what you are looking for.  I used the dividers to separate the dies into the Kaisercraft categories; Decorative Dies, Decorative Die Words, Card Creation Dies and Dies with matching Stamps.

I decorated the box with the gorgeous new Boho Dreams Collection papers and die-cut my own title for the box - how ironic!  This project was quick and easy to make.  I am now thinking a box for embossing folders, background stamps, flowers...the list could go on!
Could you use a box like this in your house to hold something?  If you decided to give this project a go, let me know, I would love to see your interpretation : )
