Memory Keeping Questions - Island Life Layout

Hello Crafty Friends,

The job over at the Kaisercraft Blog was all about Memory Keeping Questions this week.

Are you a Memory Keeper?  Do you Scrapbook to record precious moments in life?  

For me, Scrapbooking is mainly about Creative Expression.  I scrapbook for fun basically...I have to be honest the recording of everything overwhelms me.  I have done Project Life in the last six years or so...up until this year...I just never started.  So I do not claim to master the Memory Keeping thing of all the moments of every week for the whole year.  I love the idea of it, I just havent succeeded every year.  This year I think I will just make a photo book of memories with no words...just to get those pictures in a book for the boys to look through.

The side of Scrapbooking that I really love is just scrapping random pictures in a random order and just playing with pretty Kaisercraft papers and products.  I dont stress about what photos I am using or what moments I am documenting.  I just enjoy the creative process.

So when Kylie, Social Media and Promotions Coordinator at Kaisercraft, set some Memory Keeping Questions for the Blog Post they really got me thinking...

The Design Team was asked to choose one question and use it as inspiration for their layouts.

Funnily enough every single Design Team member chose the same question: "What are you grateful for?"...that question obviously spoke to everyone.  

I loved creating this layout.  I wanted to use some journalling which I rarely do on my layouts and because of this I changed the whole way I approached the layout.  It was really refreshing for me to try something different.

I love this little photo of our boys I took at Hamilton Island this year.  It was a special moment for me.  Getting to Hamilton Island was a real dream come true.  I just loved it.  I am grateful for these two gorgeous boys every single day.  And I loved how Scrapbooking this moment made me remember that.  Which got me thinking about memory keeping and how I approach it....
One day I'll come up with some sort of solution for that...but for now, maybe, while life is busy, I'll just concentrate on enjoying the moments. xxx

Kaisercraft Romantique Layout

Are you loving the Romantique Collection as much as I am?
There are lots of lovely pastel colours in this collection, but today I picked out the more natural tones to suit my photograph.

This collection has a beautiful page of butterflies.  I adore butterflies and I love to use them in my projects.  They make creating so easy.  I fussy cut some from this paper and then used them in my Layout.

Decorative Dies

I used two Decorative Dies in my Layout:

I wove these dies in and out of the butterflies in my diagonal design.

I painted some Wooden Flourishes with Gold paint and added them into the design.

Kaisercraft Summer Splash Beach Tags with Process Video

Hello Crafty Friends,

The task over at the Kaisercraft Blog today was to come up with a tip to share on how to use the Summer Splash Specialty Paper and a creative project to match.

I decided to cut the Specialty Paper up and use it on some Beachy tags.

I also misted it to change the colour as well.  I felt like it needed a bit more colour to match my already bright tags.

Romantique Publication Layout with Instructions

Life has been busy...I'm just hopping on to share a Publication Layout in this month's Kaisercraft Magazine.  I made this with the Romantique Collection.  I found a pink photo to scrap...me in a pink t-shirt! Ben took this of me out in the backyard one afternoon as he was taking photos of the boys.  I was sitting on the edge of the garden watching on.  Its kind of a contemplative photo and I thought it went well with the sticker title...which I guess is true and kind of scary at the same time!

This Layout took me days to make, I'll admit it.  It sat on the kitchen bench for ages while I tweaked it.  Some come quicker than others, this was a slow one.

P2424 Parisian, P2426 Primrose (x2), P2425 Bourdoir

KC Product:

PP1032 Paper Pad, CT894 Collectables, SS351 Sticker Sheet, Decorative Dies – DD312 Leaves and DD705 Swirl Flourish, IT026 Temple - Ornate, SB789 Pearls – Chino, CL104 Gel Pens 48 Pk, CS257 Background Script, IP719 Ink pad – Black, Paper Blooms – F629 Buttercream, F640 Fairy Floss and F658 Mini Paper Blooms – Dusty Pink, BRB606 Organza Ribbon.

Other: Cheese Cloth

Instructions:

Fussy cut bird picture from one PRIMROSE (Reverse) paper.  Fussy cut birdcage from BOURDOIR (Reverse).  Fussy cut floral clusters and yellow butterflies from PARISIAN.

Take second PRIMROSE (Reverse) as base of Layout.  Using Ornate Temple and Pink Gel Pen trace design in a diagonal fashion from top left-hand corner.  Ink Background Script with Black ink and stamp in places over the Template design in diagonal fashion.

Layer photograph onto several papers from the Paper Pad with foam tape.  Position in middle of diagonal.  Adhere bird cage underneath photograph and bird picture from bottom right-hand corner of the photo.

Die cut Flourishes and leaves in paper from the Paper Pad.  Add to diagonal pattern with fussy cut floral clusters, paper blooms, collectables, butterflies and organza ribbon bows.

Choose a quote sticker from Sticker Sheet and cut into small segments.  Position in diagonal fashion below embellishments.

Finally, decorate with Chino Pearls.

Kaisercraft Summer Splash Layout ~ Featuring Stamping

Its heating up here on the Gold Coast.  We have had our air conditioner pumping the last couple of days.  It seems like Summer has hit and what a great time for one of Kaisercraft's new Collections - Summer Splash!

CS314 ~ Summer Splash Clear Stamps

Kaisercraft Summer Splash Collection

The job over at the Kaisercraft Blog today was to make a creative project featuring the Clear Stamp Set.  I chose to scrap this photo of my cousin Mat in the surf.  Mat has been surfing his whole life and he is very talented at it.  This photo made its way down the family grapevine.  When I saw it I saved it away for a Beachy layout.

I used a Template and some glossy Texture Paste mixed with white paint to create the white water drops on my page.  Then I used the Clear Stamp Set and ink pads to add some drops and bubbles for the ocean.  I stamped the title "Summer Time" - even though Mat surfs all year long!

I had fun getting ink to create this layout.  Thanks so much for stopping by to see it : )
