Kaisercraft 2016-2017 Design Team Application
If you follow my Blog, or Social Media Accounts you are probably aware that during this last year I had the special privilege of being on the Kaisercraft Design Team. It really has been an incredible honour and experience and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the amazing Kaisercraft products.
When it came time for the next year's Design Team Call I eagerly put my hand up to be a part of the wonderful experience again. This Blog post is my Round Two application for the 2016-2017 Team.
I started with the above Kaisercraft materials. We were sent a package full of gorgeous crafting goodies including the yet-to-be-released Boho Dreams Collection. I bought a Captured Moments Mini Album from my local Kaisercraft Store at Robina. I decided to make a Mini Album.
The task was to create one project. Can you imagine the decision to make one project with all of this lovely crafting material? Plus the project had to showcase your unique crafting style...eek...what is mine again? I'm never really sure...
I chose to create an Album because I thought it would be a lovely way to use the products. I love making all projects, cards, layouts and beyond the page items...but I was inspired to make an album with this collection.
How I made my Album
Firstly I used Kaisermist sprays and a Mandala template to create the cover of the album. I mixed two colours together with the mists - Peach and Denim. I picked these as my two dominant colours for the album along with Kraft as a natural base colour. I experimented with spraying the mists in different spots on the Mandela. I used a piece of wrapping paper from the Lucky Dip Mix 3 Collection as the base for the cover of the album.
Then I made some pages to go inside the Album while I waited for my Mandela to dry. I measured these off the plastic photo pockets that came with the album that I decided not to use. I used a piece of card stock in the middle of the page and then covered it with papers on either side so the pages became quite sturdy. I inked the edges with Vintage or Bark ink. We were given some lovely Corrugated cardboard in the package and I chose to use this on my first and last pages in the album.
Once my Mandelas were dry I covered the Album and added a spine cover as well. This is one of my favourite quotes from the collection: "She believed she could so she did." I really love the blue wood paper combined with the apricot coloured quote.
I covered the inside of the Album with the brown side of the Dreamcatcher paper. I love the embossed look it has. For the little bit of gap near the silver binder rings I coloured with a dark brown Copic marker.
I matted all my photos onto either Kraft cardstock or cork. They both are a similar colour, and it was easiest to keep all the photos uniformed. I chose photos of my beautiful nieces that we took a few years back when they were playing in their back yard.
I sprayed some feathers onto papers using the templates for layers in the album.
I started to build my pages in the album by layering photos and papers. I am always tempted to go flat and simple, but once I start adding embellishments that thought flies out the window and I keep adding and adding and so the album became chunkier and chunkier!
Then I added die cuts and embellishments to build the pages.
The Completed Album
This is the front cover of the album. I used a beautiful dream catcher sticker layered onto cork that came in the package. I used some corrugated cardboard as a layer for the Dream Catcher. I love the rustic texture of the corrugated cardboard and I used it extensively through the album. I added a little wooden flourish butterfly and the sticker quote "Go Out and Chase your Dreams".
I really love the positive quotes sprinkled all the way through the Boho Dreams collection. I kept singing two songs while making this album "I'm a Believer" off Shrek and "Forever Young" with the kids on skateboards. This collection has a lovely happy and peaceful vibe to it. Just working with it makes you feel relaxed and carefree.
This is the inside of the front cover. There are lots of camera images throughout this collection, and bicycles. I used my favourite Kaisercraft die ever "Foliage" all the way throughout this project. I think it suits the Paper Blooms like no other die. I cut it in Kraft card stock and I just love the natural look it creates.
