1st Birthday Card for Rosie

Kaisercraft 1st Birthday Card by Alicia McNamara

Hello Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a card I made for a friend to give to her daughter Rosie on her first birthday.  The party was a ballerina theme with a beautiful cake and gorgeous looking biscuits and things to eat!  My friend asked for a vintage inspired pink card and so this is what I came up with.

I mixed a few old Kaisercraft collections to make the card.

I managed to get a number one in there too.

Do you want a little sneak peek at the party food?

Lots of yummy pinkness and it all tasted as sweet and as delicious as it looks!  Just looking at these photos make me want to go and eat something sugary!

Last Kaisercraft Wildflower Layout and Card

Kaisercraft Wildflower Layout by Alicia McNamara

I have had a lovely time playing with the Wildflower Collection this month...it certainly has been one of my favourite Kaisercraft collections.  I have one more layout and card to share before I move on to other projects.

This was a very simple layout I made of my friend Carrie on her Wedding Day

And a simple little card I made using the aqua colours from the Collection.

I sprayed the Mandela die cut with Kaiser Mists to match the Glitter Card Stock and sprayed the sentiment as well.

Kaisercraft Island Escape Layout Publication, Set of Three Cards and a Question for You!

Kaisercraft Island Escape Layout by Alicia McNamara
Layout

This is a Layout I made for the Kaisercraft February Workshop Magazine using Island Escape.  You can download the magazine for free here.

This is how I made the Layout:

Materials Used
PS479 Rattan – Embossed, P2248 Kahakai, CT874 Collectables, PP1014 Paper Pad, IP727 Ink Pad – Lagoon, Flourish Pack – FL594 Life’s a Beach, RS402 Rhinesones – Island Lagoon, F627 Paper Blooms – Coconut, Decorative Dies – DD550 Coral, DD745 Fishing Net, BRB606 Organza Ribbon, CD101 - 12x12 Weave Card Stock- Coconut.
Other: Cheesecloth

Instructions:

1. Cut RATTAN to 29.5 x 29.5 cm and ink edges with Lagoon Ink.  Layer onto Coconut Cardstock.  This provides the base of the layout.

2. Choose pages from the Paper Pad to rip and layer behind photograph.  Ink some edges with Lagoon Ink.  Cut “Summer Vibes” and “Live the Adventure” 4x6 cards from KAHAKI.  Layer underneath photo.  Secure layered photograph onto middle of the base of the layout.

3. Cut Fishing Net Decorative Die out of Coconut Card Stock and Coral Decorative Die from papers in the Paper Pad.  Layer with some Cheese Cloth to two corners of the layered photograph.  Add in some Palm Tree and Leaf Collectables to these two corners.

4. Embellish with some wooden flourishes, organza ribbon tied into bows, Coconut Blooms and Island Lagoon Rhinestones.

I also made three simple cards using the same collection.  I have included the instructions if you are interested...

Questions

Just a few questions I have for you, what do you prefer to make...Cards or Layouts?  Do you find it tricky to make a Layout and then get your head back into card-making?  Or do you make mainly cards and then find it hard to get back into making a Layout?  Do you find you need a different head-space for the different sized projects? I'm just curious to ask.  I find I struggle going from layouts to cards and back again.  I haven't found a way to do the same techniques on both yet...but I'm working on it...I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below xx
