Scrapbooking Questions

Hi Blogging Buddies,

I am totally in awe of scrapbookers...they amaze me with their talents and their inspiring creations.  I am a big believer in learning new things and understand that when you first start out something it takes time to get "good" at it.  I feel it is safe to call myself a  blogger and a card-maker but I am itching to get into scrapbooking. I have made a few attempts...but havent felt like I am doing it "right" or haven't been too happy with the way the finished product looks. I am looking for some help.  I think I struggle mostly with the following things:

1. Materials...even though I have heaps of papers and embellishments etc...I can only seem to use them on cards...should I buys some kits just to get me started and heading in the right direction?

2. Photos...I cant print them out nicely on my printer as it is too old so I struggle with having no photos to scrap and I go into town to get some printed out and come home not sure what to do with them or where to start.  Would getting a new printer help?

3. Page layouts. I know what I would like my pages to look like...but I am really not sure how to make it happen! This kind of comes back to the materials again.

4. What to begin with...I have tried several tactics. I started scrapbooking my baby photos...then paused...then thought maybe a photo for every year of my life...then I just wasnt sure...I guess my purpose has never been too clear...

5. Would digital scrapbooking be more for me? Less time consuming and maybe easier because you can just press delete and undo if you dont like something and then start again without feeling guilty for wasting materials. But then what programs should I buy and should I print them out?

Maybe you could give me some tips, or point me in the right direction.

(Just a few questions for a Sunday morning...as I blog-hop around...suppose I better get back into the day and get onto some of my DT work! I have a bit of a sore throat this morning...oh oh....and a whole week of work booked in...so I dont think I will have a whole lot of time after school for creating much...I will probably be sleeping!...Best to get the things done today that need to be done!  Hope you have an enjoyable Sunday!)

A Card for Elise

Hi Blogging Buddies,

I have had a nice easy day today...gotta love them!! I went into town for a couple of quick jobs and then have been home catching up on some washing and card-making. I wanted to share this card today. It is for Elise from Paper Love Affair who has just recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Cheryl at My Cardmaking Haven has a competition going, asking people to send cards to Elise and be in the running to win some candy from Bizzy Becs.

My Mum is a breast cancer survivor...she first had breast cancer when I was ten and then again when I was seventeen. But she has been cancer free for thirteen years now. It is a horrible time for a family to go through so I really feel for Elise and her family and wish her all the best with her treatment and her road to recovery. While I was making this card it really reminded me how lucky I am to have my Mum still with me and how I mustn't forget to appreciate her.

I used some digi images from Pollycraft and layered them on pink card and pink Designer paper. I used some lace and ribbon, silver thread, silver leaves, a big pink flower and some silver crystals.

I thought I would enter this card in a few challenges:

A Spoon Full of Sugar - Relish to Embellish
Paper Romance - Everything but the Kitchen Sink
Our Creative Corner - An Attitude of Gratitude
My Cardmaking Haven - A Card Drive for Elise

I'm off to make dinner now before we head in and watch a movie...hopfully something light-hearted and funny...just what I need.
Have a lovely Saturday night and thanks for stopping by my blog.

Hi Blogging Buddies,

Thank God its Friday!
I am a bit over this week...traipsing all around the countryside to different schools and dealing with so many unfamiliar faces everyday. I am happy to be having two days off this weekend before I do it all again next week.

I made this card last night for a colleague who requested a B'day card for her neice who is turning two. I used this image stamped for me by Aussie Loz. (Thank you so much!) It really is a very cute little image and I had a lovely time colouring it in with my Copic Markers.

I used the following colours:
Skin: E11, E21, E00, R20
Hair: E33, E31, Y11, Y08, Sand Spica
Pinks: R37, RV06, RV04, RV02, R85, RV13, Blossom Spica
Greens: G14, YG06, YG11
Greys: C-1, C-3
Background Outline: BG10

If you havent bought yourself a Spica Pen yet, you should, because they are divine!
Sammi is selling them over at Mad for Markers. I have decided I would like the whole collection! They just give that bit of sparkle to your image as you can see in the photo above.

I would like to enter my card in some challenges:

Bizz Becs Store Challenge - Cute and Sweet
Flutter By Wednesday - Fairy/Angel/Butterfly
Alphabet Challenge - A is for Angels (and fairies)

I hope you have a lovely weekend. Thank you for visiting my blog and for all the lovely comments you leave.

A Little Baby Card and some Wedding Photos

Hi Blogging Buddies,

I am happy to be staying at home today catching up on my blogging and card-making. A couple of friends have had babies lately so here is a little girl card I made. (Actually made two, but only photographed one.) The image is PollyCraft. I merged the image and the sentiment and put a border around the two then printed it all out on the one piece of card. Very easy to cut around. The heart sticker is a from a SU scrapbook set and I attached it to punched out piece of white card and added some faux stitches.

I coloured with Copics. The colours I used were:
Pinks: RV02, RV34, RV12
Yellows: Y08, Y11
Spica Pens: Blossom and Clear

I would like to enter this card in My Time to Craft - Quick and Cute

I posted a few weeks ago that I was getting our wedding negatives put onto cd. Well, I picked them up today so I thought I would share a few. Ben and I got married in 2002 so we look very young in these photos! Here are few of the better ones...

This was the wedding party...5 bridesmaids and 5 groomsmen.
I like this photo...symbolic of the journey of life...walking it together.
This was the photographer's favourite photo.
A black and white photo.

All the dresses were hand made by Ben's Auntie and the bridemaids was out of pink silk...lovely fabric. The photos here are taken on Mum and Dad's driveway.
I will have to get some photos printed out and framed now that I have them on disc.
Hope you enjoyed them.

Thanks for stopping by,

Mad for Markers Blog Hop

Good morning Blogging Buddies,

I am excited to say that I have been accepted onto the Mad for Marker's Design Team
and to begin the journey we are having the first ever Mad for Markers blog hop.
If you have come here from Marcia’s blog then you are on the right track…
If not then please hop on over to Mad for Markers to start this fun hop.

Firstly the ladies at M4M would like to say a HUGE THANKS to the departing Design team ladies… Sue, Louise and Tracy who have been wonderful members of the Mad for Markers Design team and it’s with sadness that they say farewell! Please pop by their blogs and give them some love and lots of thanks for all the gorgeous inspiration they’ve shared with us all using Copic markers!

And they would like to give a very warm welcome to the new team (which includes me!) and are very excited to have them on board…. You can also take a little detour to read more about the new team HERE.
Another little bit of news is that M4M now has a separate challenge blog – as of today (and you will finish the hop there!) We have lots of FUN things in store for you here on the existing blog (stay tuned) and we have some great challenges lined up for the new Mad for Markers challenge blog ... with daily inspiration coming from the wonderful new team!

Make sure to leave all the Girls some love along the way and become a follower of the new challenge blog to be in the running to win a Prize Pack, which consists of 3 Copics, 1 multiliner, a small pack of Neenah and XPress It blending card, plus a small sheet of X Press It Mask It Paper. There will also be a couple of random winners chosen along the way.

Enough chattering… HERE is my project I am sharing with you today…
