Back from Holidays...

Finally back from my holiday at Hayman Island where we had a lovely time. If anybody feels like a luxury holiday, then Hayman is a wonderful spot. Guests from all over the world visit. I have included a couple of pics for you to have a look at. We did lots of relaxing, eating, swimming, snorkelling and even went on a bush walk across the island. We did get quite a bit of dust from the dust storms. You can kind of see it in the sky in the picture below.

Since we have been back I have been trying to catch up with cleaning, washing and card-making. I made this card for my brother whose birthday is on Sunday. He has been known to sneak into the bath with a beer for some relaxation so I thought this Penny Black image might suit him! I used the sketch from Papertake Weekly, but missed the cut-off date for the challenge. I wanted to keep it simple and quick to make. I did add some glitter and crystal effects to the bubbles to give them a watery look.
I used the colour yellow because that is my brother's favourite colour. I added a navy background to keep the card masculine. I hope to catch up on all your blogs over the next day or so. Thanks for visiting.

Kell's Sketch

Well I have finally had time to focus on Kellie's 3rd Sketch. If you would like to enter you can find it on her blog here. I made two cards for my auntie and uncle who live in Japan. Both their birthday's fall in the same week which is handy. I can post them both together. I modified the sketch slightly. I think it is pretty easy to tell which card is for who (I hope). My favourite is Trish's card becaus I like the colours and the flower. Bill's card looks a bit un-straight, but it must have been my photography because it doesn't look like that in real life. I hope he likes the Bonsai tree though. I am pretty sure they originated from Japan and I thought it would be a suitable image for a male card.
I have a busy day planned today. Lots of jobs and shopping to do. Hope you have a happy Wednesday. Thanks for stopping over and take care.

Sweeties Sketches LO

Happy Monday everyone. I am on holidays again, yay! How good are they? I spent the afternoon on this layout from Sweeties Sketches.

I used papers from the SU Love Sparkles Simply Scrappin' Kit. The colours are So Saffron, Regal Rose and Whisper White. The glittery objects in the photo are actually shells from the Seaside stamp set. They didn't photograph well in the first picture due to the light catching the sparkles, so I took a close-up photo.

I stamped them in Versa-Mark, added heat and stick powder, heated them up with the heat gun, sprinkled them in Dazzling Diamonds and then heated them again. I used my new stampin' roller from the mini catalogue. Hope you can get a good idea of what it looks like from these photos.

Thanks for popping over and visiting my blog.

I hope you have a pleasant evening.

A Wedding Card

I have been meaning to make this wedding card for my teaching partner Michelle for about a month now. She asked me to make two wedding cards for her and I made two, but wanted to make a third so she could choose. I knew she wouldn't want really "girly-girly" cards but that was all I was producing. Thankfully I finally got some inspiration from the red felt hearts strip I bought at Scrapbook Divas. I made this card today and I am pleased it is not pink and girly-girly. Wedding cards are extra tricky I think. I am entering this card in the Card Patterns Sketch 33 challenge. I altered the sketch slightly to move the ribbon below the triangles.
Thankfully I am now on school holidays and to celebrate, yesterday I slept all day long. I must have been very tired from the last two weeks of madness. Then last night I played Sing Star with some friends until 2am in the morning. Hope the neighbours could sleep ok! Today I really hope to spend lots of time creating...I have lots to do...
Hope you are having a nice Sunday. Thanks for visiting.

Delicious Diva Challenge Closed

Not sure if you have realised but the Delicious Diva Challenge has finished. Kell and Kristy decided, due to other commitments to remove this blog. I had such a lovely time being a Guest DT and popping around and visiting people's blogs and checking out all the beautiful cards. I am a little sad it has ended. I had one more card made for Delicious Divas that will not be published on the blog so I thought I would show it here today. I had a lovely time making this card. Colours are Pacific Point, Baja Breeze, Dazzling Diamonds and Whisper White.
Well I am off to make more cards...Thanks for visiting.

Simple Boy's Card

Wow! These are crazy times! Life can be so hectic! I have been busy every night this week and really haven't had much time for making cards. I wanted to post this Boy B'day card. It is simple - but we all know male cards usually are - no need for ribbons, flowers or fuss! This is for my cousin Ted who is in Grade 8 I think. I hope the skateboard image would make it cool enough for him to like it.

Stampin' Up Party and a Layout!

Goodmorning! Hope you are enjoying the weekend. Yesterday I had my Stampin' Up party at my house. It was a lovely afternoon with some lovely friends. I spent up big, so I can't wait to receive my goodies!!!! Here is a photo I took of some of the ladies that came along and stamped, and chatted.

Second I wanted to show you a Layout I worked on last night and finished this morning. I am a beginner scrapbooker, but I really want to get into it as I have loads of photos to scrap. This is for a page of my baby album. I used a bit of a card-board box to get the corrugated iron effect that is in the background of these photos.

Thanks for visiting my blog. I love reading the comments you leave.

I have booked a holiday!

I am a bit excited tonight because I booked my holiday at Hayman Island! I have attached a photo for your viewing pleasure! They actually have a special on at the moment if you are interested, four nights for the price of three. Go to http://www.hayman.com.au/ and check out their special offers. Can't wait really, because we havent been on a holiday since April last year. Will have to get a fake tan for this location! Wouldn't want to show off any white bits Lol!

No cards again tonight - due to the crazy week I have had - but it is over now! Hooray! Tomorrow I am having a Stampin' Up party at my house so a bit of cleaning and cooking going on tonight and tomorrow morning. I haven't been around to see any of my favourite blogs lately, but hope to catch up over the weekend.

Happy Friday!

Busy Times...

Just a quick post to let you know life is a bit busy at the moment. After a lovely relaxing weekend - where I lay on the lounge all day and read "New Moon", the jobs are catching up with me! Sadly I have no card to show you, but lots of projects waiting to be started, with little time to do them! End of term is always HECTIC! This term looks like it will be no different. There is lots going on this week - a planning day at school tomorrow for half a day, going out for dinner tomorrow night, my car in for a service on Thursday and a Stampin' Up party at my place on Saturday. AAAggghhhh! And you should see the state of my house since I ignored all my weekend jobs to read that book for about 10 hours! My head is spinning at the moment - but I know everything will get done eventually, just have to take one day at a time. I am also thinking of going away on a holiday...have wanted to get away for ages...but why are holidays so expensive? I have found the perfect holiday...four nights on an island...Oh well - will probably book it and not worry about the money. Just try not to think about it, right? Hope your life is more peaceful and less frantic than mine at the moment. Take care.

Sweeties Sketches - Sept Card

I am totally in love with the card sketch at Sweeties Sketches for September. I had a really fun time making this card. I do love this Sarah Kay image. I think she is so cute! I roughed most of the edges on this card to give it a country feel and used mainly warm-coloured card stock and papers. I made this card last night for my teaching partner Michelle. She teaches next door to me and it was her birthday today.
I have a busy day planned for tomorrow. I am going out for lunch and then out for dinner and a movie. Should be a good day. I am really glad it's Friday. Only two more weeks until School Holidays - yay! I can't wait.
I hope you are having a relaxing Friday evening. Thanks very much for visiting my blog.

MDUC Recipe

Wow did I struggle with this card! It has taken me three nights from beginning to end. Most things went wrong with it and I am still not sure I even like it! Anyway, I have never made a recipe card before, so maybe I should be more kind to myself! The recipe over at Magnolia Down Under is: 1 flower, 2 ribbons, 3 brads and 4 colours/papers. My card has 1 enormous layered flower, 2 turquoise ribbons, 3 dragonfly brads and four colours; Whisper White, Tempting Turquoise, Ruby Red and Summer Sun. This card is for my cousin Biddy whose birthday was yesterday - the first day of Spring. What a great day to have your birthday I think!

A few posts ago I promised to take some photos of my class' Father's Day cards. We made them yesterday. The kids really enjoyed making them and each one looks very different to the next. Hope you are having a fun Wednesday. I am feeling a bit headachey and sinusy so I am off to have an early night.

Delicious Diva Sketch Challenge

The third Delicious Diva challenge is here! This time it is a sketch challenge. I followed Kellie's sketch to make my card. I used SU Ruby Red and Whisper White Card Stock with Bella Rose Designer Series Paper. (I love this Bella Rose collection.) I coloured my Magnolia image with inks, water colour crayons, aqua painter and stampin' write markers and added the sentiment at the bottom of the image. I used chocolate chip ribbon for the bow on top of the lace punch. The flower was from my last order from Bizzy Becs.

I would love to see what you can do with this sketch. The other DT cards are gorgeous. Why not head over to Delicious Divas and enter this challenge. I will come and visit you and leave a comment.
