Happy B'day to my MIL and some Christmas Thoughts

Hi Blogging Beauties,

My first day of holidays today and I feel exhausted!!
I think everything has been catching up with me.
I thought I would blog these cards I made for my Mother-in-law's birthday a few weeks ago.
She has three kids so I made a card from each one of them.
I tried to make them all different.

In the first card (green and black) I used papers and accessories from Kaisercraft Chapter One, with a Manorhouse flower and some bling.

The second one I used papers from Kaisercraft Le Chateur collection, some white alphabet stickers and some Kaisercraft aqua flowers.  Then I added a swirl, some lace, ribbon and a string of pearls from my stash.

The last card was made of purple scraps (purple is Barb's fave colour) and a big Manor House flower.  This is a picture of Barb opening one of her presents we got her.  She really liked the cards and the presents and said she felt very spoilt so that was good!!!

I would like to enter these cards in the Southern Girls Challenge - Let's Celebrate!

I am off to get my hair cut and coloured this afternoon and hope to fit in a little Chrissie shopping too.  I still have quite a few presents to purchase.  If I recover in energy I hope to put my tree up.  I have been feeling very slack in not getting it up yet.  I am kind of a bit bored with my tree and decorations.  Does anyone else get that feeling...like they would like to revamp their Christmas colour scheme??  Yesterday I was talking to a lady who said her theme for this Christmas is purple and silver and so she bought a new white tree to match.  Then she bought reindeer antlers for everyone to wear at Christmas and spray painted them silver.  It sounded so fresh and delicious to me...and got me thinking do I need a little revamp?
Last night I worked on a Pinterest album of Christmas and found some lovely inspirational pictures.  You can check them out here if you are interested.
Then I started thinking about a few Christmas thoughts...

...is Christmas all about "the perfect tree" or "the perfect colour scheme"
...does this really matter...
and then I started thinking what does Christmas really mean to me???

(Deep I know!)  I am working on a little brainstormed list...
Ben and I talked about it too...he thought that people going to such effort like this lady would make for such a magical and memorial day...
What do you think???
What does Christmas mean to you???
I am keen to know.

LOVE the birthday cards. Especialy the black and greeen and the flower on the 3rd card. What does Christmas mean to me? Memories of past Christmas, candle light Mid-night church service and singing Silent Night. FAMILY. It really doesn't matter if things are a bit tarnished or worn, it is about being together.
As for the tree I have 3 boxes of decoratios (remember I have had a lot longer to collect the ornaments) Box one - mostly old family pices and things the kids made. Box 2 - all hearts and box 3 - all snowmen. This year all the snowmen are up :)

Love those cards Alicia:) Financially if money was no object I might change our Christmas colour scheme each year but that's not our reality. Problem then would be the sweet decorations my children have made and given me over the years wouldn't match and it wouldn't be Christmas without them around. The perfect "Myer" Christmas trees don't really speak to me - so impersonal. To avoid the stale feeling though DD and I do head to the Boxing Day sales and buy a few new Chrissy items when we see some we love. Hope the energy levels start to lift now you are on holidays. xL

love those cards, Alicia, especially those great big flowers!!
Christmas means family to me - adult offspring and grandees, and lots of fun. The decorations are not a big issue for me, as the centre of Christmas to us is remembering the birth of Christ.

What a lucky MIL to receive three of your beautiful cards. All are lovely. My daughter (15) finally got to and put up our tree on Tuesday while I was at work. For years I have stressed a little at how everything should look and this year I am quiet happy and sit back and admire all the special tree ornaments we have collected over the years. Ones the kids have made, some from my crafty friends and some from family members. I hope you recoup a little energy Alicia......or enjoy a relaxing holiday. Merry Christmas to you and hubby.

Wow, these are stunning Alicia!

What Christmas means to me is to sit in front of our Xmas tree with our dogs sniffing each present thoroughly while we are trying to open them!

Gorgeous cards Alicia, love the blue and white one, very elegant. Memorable Christmases to me are ones spent with family and children. I love watching the kids play outside with their new toys and having a lunch with my family. xox
